While Dr. Greg Mohr is exceptionally skilled at performing cosmetic dental treatments such as tooth whitening and smile makeovers, he also recognizes that regular dental cleanings and checkups are essential to keeping teeth healthy and attractive for life. Mohr Exceptional Dentistry assists our patients in maintaining optimal oral health and strong, bright smiles by offering all the necessary forms of dental treatment. We provide not only general dental care but also cutting-edge dental health treatments such as advanced laser periodontal treatment and CEREC® single-visit dental crowns at our Placentia, Orange County practice near Fullerton. By maintaining a strong dental routine that includes brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and scheduling regular visits to Mohr Exceptional Dentistry, your entire family can have bright, healthy smiles that you'll be proud to show off wherever you go.
In the past, placement of a dental crown required at least two dental visits due to the time needed for custom fabrication of a porcelain ceramic crown by an offsite laboratory. Today, however, we can plan and place dental crowns at our Placentia practice near Fullerton in Orange County in only one visit thanks to the advanced CEREC® 3D machine featured in our office. CEREC® restorations are crafted from fine porcelain, which mimics the appearance of natural tooth material so closely that your new dental crown or other ceramic restoration will be indistinguishable from your natural teeth. In addition to dental crowns, the CEREC® system can also be used to plan and place porcelain veneers, inlays and onlays, and other restorations. Furthermore, the crowns it produces can be attached to dental implants to provide the most durable tooth replacement solution available.
Placement of a CEREC® dental crown begins with an examination by Dr. Greg Mohr, who will discuss with you how you'd like your new ceramic restoration to appear. Next, digital impressions will be made of your teeth using 3D imaging technology that allows us to plan your implant so that it will match your smile precisely. Based on this plan, which is created by Dr. Mohr in accordance with your wishes, the CEREC® 3D machine then creates a custom ceramic porcelain crown that is color-matched to the shade of your natural teeth. Finally, Dr. Mohr will bond the finished dental crown to your tooth, completing your restoration — often in just slightly more than an hour!
In keeping with our commitment to bringing the latest advances in dental technology to our patients, our office chooses to use the soft tissue laser — a gentler, bladeless alternative to the surgical scalpel — to provide laser periodontal therapy, or laser soft tissue therapy, the ultimate in healthy gum treatment. Thanks to the advanced care made possible with this technology, patients at Mohr Exceptional Dentistry enjoy more comfort, less bleeding, and faster healing. Laser periodontal therapy is performed at our Placentia office by certified laser therapists, and it encompasses a number of periodontal procedures, including treatment of periodontal or gum disease (the leading cause of adult tooth loss), frenectomy, biopsy, and gingival recontouring. Gingival recontouring is frequently performed by Dr. Gregory Mohr as part of a cosmetic smile makeover to provide optimal aesthetic results and minimize the degree to which the smile appears "gummy."
While Dr. Greg Mohr can of course provide outstanding treatment for damaged or decayed teeth, we would much prefer to help our patients avoid such problems in the first place. To that end, our office maintains a strong commitment to preventive dentistry, encouraging each of our patients to schedule regular exams and cleanings at least twice a year, although patients with certain conditions, such as advanced peritonitis, should schedule exams more frequently as recommended. Because even the most assiduous person cannot remove all plaque deposits on his or her teeth through brushing and flossing alone, regular cleanings are essential to maintaining a healthy smile. During your regular visits to Mohr Exceptional Dentistry, we will gently and thoroughly clean your teeth and gums and perform a full examination and review of your dental health. Additionally, with regular exams we have a much better chance of catching and correcting small dental problems such as minor cavities before they develop into larger, more expensive dental issues.
